Patna, November 12: The political winds in Bihar appear to be blowing strongly in favor of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), as early exit polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections indicate a decisive lead for the ruling coalition.
According to the initial projections released by multiple agencies, the NDA alliance—powered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s combined appeal—is on course to secure a comfortable majority, maintaining its dominance in the state’s electoral landscape.
The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, seems to be facing major setbacks, with most surveys placing its tally below the 100-seat mark in the 243-member assembly. Analysts attribute the performance gap to fragmented opposition messaging, leadership fatigue, and a strong NDA ground network across rural constituencies.
Political experts also note that Modi’s national influence, coupled with Nitish Kumar’s local governance image, has resonated with voters who prioritize stability and development. Meanwhile, the LJP (Ram Vilas) and smaller regional outfits have played marginal but potentially decisive roles in certain constituencies.
While the NDA camp celebrates early trends as a validation of its governance model, the Mahagathbandhan has urged caution, emphasizing that “exit polls are not results” and expressing confidence in a stronger showing once official counting begins.
The Election Commission of India will declare the final results later this week, but if exit polls hold true, Bihar could see the continuation of the Modi–Nitish political axis for another term.
