NDA Roars Back With Landslide Win in Bihar, Clinches Over 195 Seats; Opposition Cries Foul

Patna, November 14, 2025 — The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a sweeping and decisive mandate in the Bihar Assembly Elections, returning to power with a stronger-than-ever majority and crossing 195 seats in the 243-member House. The coalition, led by the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), has dramatically expanded its footprint from the previous election cycle, defying anti-incumbency narratives and opposition predictions.

The Mahagathbandhan, comprising the RJD–Congress alliance, suffered a devastating setback, managing only around 40 seats. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav conceded defeat in the afternoon, acknowledging the NDA’s decisive lead, but simultaneously alleged irregularities and voter-roll anomalies in several constituencies.

Across BJP bastions including Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, and Gaya, party workers broke into jubilant celebrations, waving saffron flags, bursting crackers, and chanting slogans hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA leadership. Senior leaders described the verdict as a “historic endorsement of development and stability.”

Meanwhile, the opposition camp expressed sharp discontent. Activists and political critics like Prashant Bhushan and AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused the Election Commission of “hijacking the electoral process,” alleging mass voter deletions and procedural lapses. The Election Commission has so far denied any misconduct.

For the NDA, the victory significantly consolidates Prime Minister Modi’s influence across the Hindi heartland, reinforcing the alliance’s political dominance ahead of upcoming national contests. Analysts say the emphatic mandate reflects voter confidence in continuity, welfare schemes, and the long-standing BJP–JD(U) partnership.

With Nitish Kumar set for yet another term, the NDA’s landslide in Bihar sends a powerful political signal across India — one that is likely to reshape coalition strategies and national electoral equations in the months ahead.
