Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal will be held in November -Elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held before mid-November. At the same time, assembly elections will be held in Gujarat in two phases after mid-November. The team of the commission is satisfied with the election preparations. The Election Commission wants to complete the election process in both the states by the end of November.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey recently visited Himachal Pradesh to take stock of the election preparations. All the preparations related to elections in the state are almost complete. At present, the commission plans to hold elections any day after the first week of November.
The last election in the state was held on November 9. This time too there is a plan to conduct elections in one phase.
The Gujarat Assembly elections are likely to be held in two phases in the second or third week of November. The Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioner are visiting the state to take stock of the election preparations.
Sources said that like last time, there will not be a big difference in the dates of elections of both the states. The last elections were held in Gujarat on December 9 and 14. The tenure of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is till 8 January and that of Gujarat Legislative Assembly is till 23 February. PLC/GT
