Speculation around Apple’s long-rumored augmented reality eyewear has intensified following reports from Asian supply chain sources suggesting the company could unveil its AR spectacles, widely referred to as “Apple Glass,” as early as next month.
According to the reports, Apple has accelerated component sourcing and testing, fueling expectations that the tech giant may soon enter the wearable AR market with a consumer-focused device. Apple has not officially commented on the reports, and no launch timeline has been confirmed.
The rumors come amid heightened global scrutiny of artificial intelligence technologies. In India, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has ordered social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, to conduct an audit of its Grok AI chatbot.
The directive follows concerns that the AI system may have generated inappropriate or “morphed” images of women, raising questions about content safeguards and misuse of generative AI tools. Indian authorities said the audit is aimed at assessing compliance with existing IT laws and platform accountability standards.
X has not yet issued a public response to the order. The development adds to growing regulatory pressure on AI platforms worldwide, as governments move to address risks related to privacy, misinformation, and harmful content.
Together, the two developments underscore a defining trend of 2026: while major technology companies push ahead with next-generation products such as AR wearables, regulators are simultaneously tightening oversight of AI-driven platforms, reshaping the global tech landscape.
