Amit Shah Sounds Political Alarm in Bihar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp political attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday, warning voters that a victory for the party could bring back thejungle-raj era that once defined Bihar’s turbulent 1990s.

Addressing a large public rally in Patna, Shah claimed that only the NDA government could ensure stability, security, and development in the state.

“If the RJD returns to power, Bihar will again face the days of kidnappings, extortion, and crime. Only the NDA can guarantee law and order,” said Shah.

The rally, part of the BJP’s pre-election outreach campaign, drew thousands of supporters from across central Bihar.

RJD Hits Back: ‘BJP Is Scared of Losing Power’

Responding to Shah’s comments, Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, said the BJP was “scared of losing power” and was resorting to fear politics instead of offering solutions.

“They talk about jungle-raj because they have nothing new to offer. Bihar’s youth want jobs, not empty slogans,” Tejashwi said.

He accused the ruling NDA of failing to deliver on employment, education, and healthcare, claiming that Bihar’s migration crisis had worsened under their governance.

Campaign Narrative: Development vs. Fear

Analysts say Shah’s comments are part of a calculated attempt to re-energize the BJP’s core voters by reviving the “law and order” debate.
Political strategist Rakesh Ranjan noted that the jungle-raj narrative still resonates with older urban voters, but the younger demographic may focus more on job creation and economic growth.

“The BJP’s jungle-raj warning is a tested narrative, but the youth bloc in Bihar now prioritizes opportunities and infrastructure,” said Ranjan.

With state elections expected in early 2026, both the NDA and RJD are sharpening their messaging — one focusing on security and governance, the other on employment and welfare.

High Stakes for Both Sides

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are expected to be a crucial test for both alliances.
A strong NDA performance could strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 General Elections, while a win for RJD could reinvigorate the INDIA bloc at the national level.

Political observers predict that Congress’s role — whether as an RJD ally or independent force — may decide the final arithmetic in many constituencies.
