Amit Shah Appeals to Assam Voters Ahead of Assembly Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday raised the issue of illegal infiltration while addressing a public gathering in Assam, urging voters to make a decisive choice in the upcoming state assembly elections scheduled for March–April next year.

Calling on the people of Assam to vote “wisely,” Shah said the next government must prioritize strong action against infiltration while accelerating the state’s development.

‘Give BJP Five More Years,’ Shah Says

Speaking after inaugurating a 5,000-seat auditorium in the state, Shah highlighted what he described as Assam’s “unprecedented progress” over the past decade under Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments at both the state and central levels.

“Over the last ten years, Assam has witnessed historic development under the BJP government in the state and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre for the past eleven years,” Shah said.

He urged voters to grant the BJP another five-year term, adding, “If you bless the BJP for five more years, every infiltrator will be identified and sent back.”

Attack on Congress Over Infiltration

The Union Home Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Congress, holding the party responsible for the infiltration issue in Assam.

“Driven by vote-bank politics, Congress encouraged infiltration, which today poses a serious threat to Assam’s identity,” Shah alleged.

He said the BJP-led government is committed to protecting Assam’s cultural heritage while strengthening its economic foundations.

Focus on Cultural and Economic Revival

Shah emphasized that the BJP government is working toward Assam’s “cultural and economic renaissance.” Referring to the inauguration of the Jyoti–Bishnu International Art Centre, he said such institutions symbolize the state’s progress and renewed cultural confidence.

The BJP has repeatedly highlighted development, security, and cultural identity as key pillars of its campaign narrative ahead of the upcoming elections.

Political Significance

With assembly elections approaching, Shah’s remarks underline the BJP’s focus on infiltration, governance, and development as central campaign issues in Assam. The speech is expected to sharpen political debate in the state as parties begin gearing up for the electoral battle.
