Jammu and Kashmir – : The first picture of the size of the Shivling in the holy Amarnath cave has surfaced. The Amarnath cave, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, is a significant pilgrimage site for devotees visiting Baba Barfani. The Jammu and Kashmir administration is currently preparing for the annual Amarnath Yatra, which will commence on July 1, 2023.

The journey to Baba Barfani will last for 62 days, and the government has released the schedule for the yatra. Registrations for the pilgrimage began on April 17, 2023, and were available through both offline and online modes.

The security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra were reviewed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a meeting attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh, and other senior officers. The 44th meeting of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) discussed various aspects of the yatra, including registration, provision of helicopter services, service providers, camps, langars (community kitchens), and insurance coverage for the yatris.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the dates for the pilgrimage and assured that the administration is committed to providing a smooth and hassle-free experience for all devotees and service providers. Necessary facilities, including healthcare, will be provided to the visiting devotees. Telecom services will also be made operational before the commencement of the pilgrimage.

The Amarnath Yatra will start simultaneously from the Pahalgam track and the Baltal track in Ganderbal district. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board will telecast the morning and evening aarti (ritual prayers) live for devotees worldwide. An app called “Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra” has been made available on the Google Play Store, offering various services online, including travel and weather information.
