Akshaye Khanna Walks Out of Drishyam 3 Over Fee Dispute

Mumbai, India — December 26, 2025

Akshaye Khanna has reportedly stepped away from Ajay Devgn’s upcoming thriller ‘Drishyam 3’ following a disagreement with the makers over his remuneration. The actor, who played a key role in Drishyam 2 (2022), is said to have demanded a fee exceeding ₹20 crore, leading to a budgetary impasse.

According to industry sources, Akshaye Khanna has now quoted a fee of approximately ₹21 crore for Drishyam 3. The sharp hike is believed to have surprised the producers, especially considering the actor was paid around ₹2.5 crore for Drishyam 2. The reported demand significantly impacted the film’s financial planning, resulting in Khanna’s exit from the project.

Drishyam 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026, with Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shreya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor set to reprise their roles. Akshaye Khanna’s absence from the cast has drawn attention, particularly after his strong run at the box office in 2025.

The actor delivered back-to-back impactful performances this year, portraying Aurangzeb in ‘Chhaava’ and Rahman Daku in ‘Dhurandhar’, both of which significantly boosted his market value. Sources say Khanna believes his revised fee reflects his current standing and audience demand.

Reports also suggest that creative differences played a role in the decision. Akshaye Khanna allegedly proposed a change in his look for Drishyam 3, including the use of a wig, which the makers did not approve due to continuity concerns from the previous installment.

Despite the fallout, both parties are said to have parted on amicable terms, with discussions ending respectfully. Industry insiders indicate that the producers remain open to collaborating with Akshaye Khanna on future projects, even as Drishyam 3 moves forward without him.
