Akshaya Tritiya: The Most Auspicious Day to Attract Prosperity and Remove Negative Energy from Your Home

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is one of the most auspicious occasions in the Hindu calendar. It falls on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Parshuram, Nar-Narayan, and Hayagriva were incarnated on this day. Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on Saturday, 22 April, and is considered to be a highly propitious day to buy gold or invest in new things, as both the Sun and the Moon are situated in exalted signs.

However, it is believed that there are certain things that should be thrown out of the house on this day to avoid the wrath of the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. These items are broken brooms, torn shoes and slippers, broken idols of gods and goddesses, broken utensils, dirty clothes, and dry plants.

Broken Broom – A broom is a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi, and several rules are mentioned in the scriptures regarding its usage. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, if there is a broken broom in the house, the blessings of the house come to an end. Worshipping Maa Lakshmi does not yield any results. Hence, it is advisable to throw the broken broom out of the house on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Mother Lakshmi will be pleased with this and shower her blessings on the house.

Torn Shoes and Slippers – Torn and old shoes and slippers are considered inauspicious and bring poverty into the house. Mata Lakshmi visits the house but returns without entering it due to mutilated shoes and slippers. Therefore, it is recommended to throw away torn shoes and slippers kept in the house on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Broken Utensils – Broken utensils in the house create disturbances in the family and cause negativity. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi does not reside in such a house. Therefore, it is essential to throw away broken utensils on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Dirty Clothes – According to religious beliefs, Goddess Lakshmi loves cleanliness, and a clean house attracts her blessings. Therefore, it is advised to keep the house clean on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Dirty and unwashed clothes, as well as false utensils, should not be kept in the house as it enrages the Mother Goddess.

Dry Plants – If plants in the house are drying up or have already dried up, it is recommended to bury them under the ground or let them flow in a river or flowing water. Dry plants can cause Vastudosh in the house, and Mata Lakshmi can get angry with this. It is best to keep dry plants away from the house, and throwing them out on the day of Akshaya Tritiya is considered to be auspicious. This ensures that the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi remain in the house, and there is progress in life.

Conclusion

On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, it is considered auspicious to invest in new things or buy gold. However, there are certain things that one should avoid keeping in the house on this day. Broken brooms, torn shoes and slippers, broken idols of gods and goddesses, broken utensils, dirty clothes, and dry plants are believed to be inauspicious and bring negative energy into the house.
