Mumbai   — :  Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), a key player in India’s energy infrastructure, has secured a significant interstate transmission project valued at ₹1,600 crore in Maharashtra. This latest development pushes AESL’s total transmission order book to an impressive ₹61,600 crore, further cementing its dominance in the power transmission sector. The announcement was made by the company through an official statement on Friday.

Major Boost to India’s Power Infrastructure

The newly awarded project involves the installation of a 3,000 mega volt-ampere (MVA) substation, significantly expanding AESL’s footprint across India. With this addition, the company’s cumulative transmission network capacity now stands at 26,696 circuit kilometers (CKM) and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity. The infrastructure will play a pivotal role in enhancing regional energy resilience and operational efficiency.

Critical Support for Mumbai’s Power Demand

Designed to support the integration of 1.5 GW of green energy, this project will extract clean power from upcoming hydro pump storage projects (PSPs) in Maharashtra. The project aims to meet the surging electricity requirements of Mumbai and its surrounding metropolitan areas, where energy demand continues to rise rapidly due to urban expansion and economic growth.

Commissioning Timeline and Project Structure

AESL is set to commission the interstate transmission system (ISTS) project by January 2028. The project was awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, with REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) serving as the bid process coordinator. The long lead time is intended to ensure optimal design, timely execution, and seamless integration into the national power grid.

Part of Adani’s Expanding Energy Portfolio

Adani Energy Solutions, part of the diversified Adani Group, has continued to broaden its role across the energy value chain. The company engages in power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. This win underscores AESL’s strategic commitment to enhancing India’s energy security and infrastructure sustainability.

AESL’s Contribution to Renewable Energy Goals

AESL’s statement highlights that this milestone is a testament to the company’s growing role in India’s transition to green energy. By facilitating the transmission of renewable power, the project directly contributes to the Government of India’s ambitious targets for clean and sustainable energy generation and consumption.

Adani Energy Solutions Posts Strong Financial Growth

The announcement of this project follows AESL’s robust financial results for Q4 FY2025. The company reported a 79% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit, reaching ₹647.2 crore compared to ₹361.4 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Revenue also surged by 35.4%, totaling ₹6,374.6 crore, reflecting AESL’s strong operational execution and expansion capabilities.

Strategic Implications for the Power Sector

As energy demands surge and renewable sources become more integral, the infrastructure enabling transmission becomes critical. AESL’s new project will enhance inter-regional energy flow, improve grid stability, and support economic activities in western India. With such initiatives, Adani Energy Solutions continues to evolve as a vital enabler of India’s clean energy future.

Adani Energy Solutions’ consistent success in securing large-scale infrastructure projects strengthens its leadership in India’s power transmission sector. The company’s ability to deliver on critical energy infrastructure ensures reliable electricity for millions, aligning with the national vision for energy independence and sustainability.
