Aarti of the deity is usually performed with incense, incense sticks, lamps and camphor. Whenever incense and incense sticks are used for Aarti, their number should always be odd. That is, Aarti of the Gods should be performed by burning 3,5,7 or 9 incense sticks. Even for Aarti, 3,5 or 7 lights should be used in the lamp.
Keep in mind the number during Aarti
When starting the Aarti, first of all the Aarti should be shown 4 times towards the feet of the Deity. After this, Aarti should be done 2 times on the navel, once on the mouth or forehead and 7 times from feet to the mouth with incense sticks, incense sticks or lamps. It is mentioned in the scriptures to perform aarti of the deity 14 times.
Perform Aarti in the shape of Om
Apart from this, whenever the aarti of any deity is performed, then the aarti of any deity should be performed by giving it the shape of Om with incense sticks, incense sticks and lamps. The gods are pleased with this and their blessings always remain with the devotees.
