Sequel Still Alive, Fans Get Hope

Fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on the sequel ever since the first film’s release. Malhotra’s latest statement confirms that the Brahmastra Universe remains a priority.

“The vision is to continue expanding the Brahmastra universe,” he said, indicating long-term plans for the franchise, though an official announcement is still awaited.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the first installment starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan, blending mythology with modern fantasy storytelling.

What Will ‘Brahmastra 2’ Be About?

The sequel is expected to dive deeper into the backstory teased at the end of the first film—focusing on the mysterious characters Dev and Amrita. Their relationship and origins are likely to form the emotional and narrative core of the next chapter.

Earlier, Ranbir Kapoor had also hinted that Brahmastra 2 is definitely in development, noting that Mukerji has been passionate about continuing the story for years. Pre-production reportedly began after work progressed on War 2, another major project linked to Mukerji.

‘Ramayana’ Takes Priority Before Sequel

For now, Malhotra is focused on completing Ramayana, one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, reportedly backed by a massive budget of around ₹4,000 crore.

The film stars:

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
  • Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Yash as Ravana

The epic is planned as a two-part release, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 arriving in Diwali 2027.

Industry Impact & What Lies Ahead

The confirmation that Brahmastra 2 is still in development comes as a major boost for Bollywood’s big-budget fantasy genre. With global-scale storytelling and heavy VFX, the franchise is seen as a key player in India’s push toward cinematic universes.

While timelines remain uncertain, the latest update ensures that the sequel is not shelved—and that fans can expect the story to continue after Ramayana hits theaters.
