A high-profile marriage case involving a young woman known online as “Kumbh Viral Girl Monalisa ” has taken a serious legal turn after an official probe found that she was allegedly a minor at the time of marriage.

The investigation by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) concluded that the girl, identified as Monalisa, was approximately 16 years and 2 months old when the marriage took place.

Case Registered Under POCSO and SC/ST Laws

Following the findings, police in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, have registered a case against her husband, identified as Farmaan, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Authorities stated that the case was filed after verification of official documents and local records during the commission’s inquiry.

Investigation Led by National Commission

The probe was conducted under the leadership of NCST Chairman Antar Singh Arya, who reviewed documents and coordinated with local authorities.

Given the seriousness of the case, the commission has summoned senior police officials, including Directors General of Police (DGPs) from Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, to New Delhi for further briefing and action planning.

Viral Case Triggered Official Inquiry

The case initially gained attention after images and videos of the marriage went viral on social media, prompting widespread debate and raising concerns about the legality of the union.

The NCST took suo motu cognizance of the matter following public scrutiny and initiated a formal investigation.

Background of the Case

According to available information, Farmaan is originally from Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh and had moved to Mumbai in pursuit of a career in films. It was there that he reportedly met Monalisa.

The couple later married in Kerala, which further drew public attention due to the cross-state nature of the case.

Family members of the accused have reportedly stated that they do not recognize the marriage and have distanced themselves from the situation.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be based on documentary evidence and findings.

Officials have not disclosed additional details, citing the sensitivity of the case, particularly given the involvement of a minor under Indian law.
