Fatwa Issued Against Nora Fatehi Over ‘Sarke Chunar’ Song

Nora Fatehi has come under controversy after a religious organization in Aligarh issued a fatwa against her over the song Sarke Chunar from the upcoming film KD. The development has intensified the debate surrounding the song’s content and portrayal.

The organization, identified as Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, objected to the song, calling it inappropriate under religious guidelines. According to the body, songs perceived as explicit or “obscene” are considered against moral and religious values, regardless of the performer’s background.

Religious Body Raises Objection

The Darul Ifta stated that content like “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” falls under what it considers impermissible. The organization added that such performances contradict ethical and religious principles and have drawn criticism from multiple quarters. Authorities, as per reports, have already initiated action in connection with the matter.

Women’s Commission Steps In

The controversy has expanded beyond religious objections. The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of the issue and issued notices to Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, and others associated with the project.

The move indicates increasing scrutiny of the song and its presentation, adding another layer to the ongoing dispute.

Nora Fatehi Responds to the Controversy

Following the backlash, Nora Fatehi addressed the issue on social media. She stated that once she fully understood the meaning of the lyrics, she chose to distance herself from the project.

She clarified that she did not participate in promoting the song after learning more about it. The actress also mentioned that she had originally performed for a Kannada track three years ago and claimed that her visuals were later used in the Hindi version without her consent.

The song was removed from platforms shortly after facing widespread criticism
