The festive period of Holi brought mixed results for films currently running in Indian cinemas. While some movies benefited from the holiday rush, others continued to struggle to attract audiences. Among the latest releases, “The Kerala Story 2” recorded a noticeable jump in earnings on Tuesday, while films such as “Assi,” “O Romeo,” and the Hollywood release “Scream 7” posted modest numbers at the Indian box office.
‘The Kerala Story 2’ Sees Holiday Boost
Released in theaters on February 27, The Kerala Story 2 has had a slow but steady start at the box office. However, the film experienced a noticeable uptick in collections during the Holi period.
According to early box office estimates, the film collected ₹4 crore on Tuesday, marking a significant improvement from ₹2.50 crore on Monday. Over the weekend, the film had earned ₹4.75 crore on Sunday, while it opened with ₹75 lakh on its first day.
With these numbers, The Kerala Story 2 has accumulated approximately ₹16.65 crore in total earnings within five days of its theatrical run. Industry observers note that holiday footfall likely contributed to the temporary boost in ticket sales.
‘Assi’ Continues to Struggle at the Box Office
The film “Assi,” starring Taapsee Pannu and directed by Anubhav Sinha, has now completed 12 days in theaters, but its box office performance remains below expectations.
On Tuesday, the film collected around ₹36 lakh, slightly improving from ₹23 lakh on Monday. Despite the modest rise, the movie has struggled to build strong audience momentum.
So far, Assi has earned ₹9.09 crore at the domestic box office, indicating a slow run compared to industry projections.
‘O Romeo’ Collection Drops After Weekend
The romantic drama “O Romeo,” featuring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, saw a noticeable decline in box office earnings after the weekend surge.
On Tuesday, the film earned approximately ₹90 lakh, compared with ₹65 lakh on Monday. While weekday collections remain modest, the film has managed to build a stronger cumulative total during its run.
To date, O Romeo has collected around ₹66.70 crore at the Indian box office, making it one of the better performers among the films currently in theaters.
‘Scream 7’ Faces Low Audience Turnout in India
The Hollywood horror release “Scream 7” has also struggled to attract large audiences in India. Five days after its release, the film’s earnings remain limited.
On Tuesday, Scream 7 collected approximately ₹12 lakh, slightly down from ₹16 lakh on Monday.
The film’s total box office collection in India now stands at about ₹1.53 crore, indicating limited traction among Indian moviegoers.
Mixed Results During the Holiday Period
While festivals such as Holi often provide a boost to theater attendance, this week’s box office numbers highlight the varying audience response across different films. Some titles saw temporary growth in collections, while others continued to face challenges in drawing crowds.
Industry analysts say the coming weekend will be crucial in determining whether the current films can sustain momentum or make significant gains at the box office.
