Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026 aims to explore how artificial intelligence can be used for the benefit of everyone, emphasizing inclusive technological growth. The five-day global summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
In a video message shared on social platform X, Modi described the event as a “powerful convergence of ideas, innovation, and intent,” adding that intelligence, rationality, and decision-making capabilities are what make science and technology useful for society.
Global Leaders and Experts Gather
The summit, which began Monday and runs through February 20, has brought together heads of state, ministers, technology leaders, researchers, multilateral organizations, and industry stakeholders to discuss AI’s role in strengthening public systems, advancing inclusive growth, and supporting sustainable development.
Officials say it is the first time such a large-scale global AI gathering focused on these issues has been hosted in the Global South.

These initiatives aim to accelerate scalable, high-impact AI solutions aligned with national priorities and global development goals. Organizers reported receiving more than 4,650 applications from over 60 countries, demonstrating strong international participation.
After a multi-layered evaluation by experts, policymakers, and industry leaders, the top 70 teams across categories have been selected as finalists. They will present their innovations to policymakers, investors, academics, and industry leaders for potential partnerships and global recognition.
Research Symposium and Academic Focus
On February 18, a major research symposium is being organized in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, considered the summit’s flagship academic forum.
The symposium received about 250 research submissions from scholars across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, reflecting growing global interest in AI research and collaboration.
Participants include Alar Karis and India’s Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, alongside internationally recognized AI experts and research institutions. Discussions focus on:
