Salman Khan’s upcoming patriotic action drama Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, has a new theatrical release date: August 14, 2026.
Originally scheduled for April 17, 2026, the film has been strategically moved to the Independence Day long weekend to align with its strong nationalistic theme. Producers aim to capitalize on heightened patriotic sentiment around August 15.
Production remains in the final stages. Salman Khan recently completed shooting a grand patriotic song sequence in Mumbai, expected to wrap by the end of February 2026. As a military-themed project based on real events, the film requires mandatory clearance from the Ministry of Defence, contributing to the scheduling adjustment.
The film dramatizes the violent clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020. Salman Khan portrays an Army colonel leading the narrative.
With the new date, Battle of Galwan is set for potential box-office clashes with Kartik Aaryan’s Nagzila and Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947, both eyeing patriotic holiday releases in 2026.
