Aamir Khan Productions has confirmed the release date for the upcoming period drama Lahore 1947, marking the first collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 13, 2026, close to Independence Day.
Aamir Khan shared his thoughts on the project, stating that the script was one of late actor Dharmendra’s favorites. He expressed that he would have been delighted if Dharmendra could have seen the completed film.
Lahore 1947 features Sunny Deol in the lead role, alongside Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Karan Deol in key characters. The music is composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.
Sunny Deol most recently appeared in Border 2, which released on January 23 and performed well at the box office. The actor co-starred with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahaan Shetty in that project.
Deol’s upcoming slate includes Ikka and participation in the Ramayan films.
