Producers of Prabhas-starrer Salaar 2 have dismissed widespread rumors that the sequel has been shelved following the commercial failure of The Raja Saab.
Hombale Films, the production house behind the project, addressed the speculation directly through an Instagram post shared on actress Shruti Haasan’s birthday. The image shows Shruti Haasan and Prabhas smiling as they look at a phone screen together. The caption reads: “Aadya showing Deva what happens to her in ‘Salaar 2’!! What do you think it is?”
The playful update has been widely interpreted as confirmation that Salaar 2 remains in active development, sparking enthusiasm among fans who see it as a clear sign the project is moving forward.
Recent reports, including one from Deccan Chronicle, had claimed the sequel was put on indefinite hold after The Raja Saab underperformed. The report suggested director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas decided to overhaul the script to better align with evolving audience preferences, stating that ideas from three years ago may no longer resonate.
The makers’ latest post effectively refutes these claims, putting an end to the shelving speculation.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, directed by Prashanth Neel and released on December 22, 2023, in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, featured Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The action drama centered on the strained friendship between two men and its impact on the fictional city of Khansaar. Supporting roles included Eeswari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, and Shriya Reddy.
