New Delhi, India — January 27, 2026
In a major boost to India’s aviation and defense manufacturing ambitions, Adani Defence and Aerospace has announced a strategic partnership with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to establish a regional aircraft manufacturing facility in India.
The collaboration aims to create an advanced aviation ecosystem in the country, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and positioning India as a key player in the global aerospace supply chain.
A Major Step for India’s Aviation Sector
The partnership will focus on setting up a regional aircraft production unit, along with supporting infrastructure for maintenance, components manufacturing, and advanced aviation services.
Industry observers see the move as one of the most significant developments in India’s civil aviation manufacturing space in recent years.
Jeet Adani on the Vision Behind the Partnership
Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, said the partnership goes beyond a commercial agreement and represents a decisive step toward shaping India’s aviation future.
According to Jeet Adani, the collaboration reflects India’s growing readiness to host world-class aviation manufacturing capabilities, while also creating new opportunities for investment, technology transfer, and skilled employment.
Boost to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’
Jeet Adani emphasized that the project aligns closely with the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) mission, helping strengthen domestic aerospace manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has undertaken major reforms in infrastructure and industrial policy, enabling the country to play a larger role in the global aviation industry.
Investment, Jobs, and Technology Transfer
The proposed manufacturing hub is expected to:
-
Attract significant domestic and foreign investment
-
Generate high-skilled employment across engineering, manufacturing, and aviation services
-
Facilitate technology transfer and strengthen India’s aerospace supply chain
While detailed timelines and production capacity are yet to be disclosed, officials indicate that the project will be developed in phases.
Strengthening India’s Global Aviation Role
With Embraer’s global expertise in regional aircraft and Adani Group’s expanding presence in aviation and infrastructure, the partnership is expected to enhance India’s competitiveness in both civil and defense aviation segments.
The initiative signals India’s intent to move beyond being an aircraft buyer to becoming a manufacturing and export hub for the aerospace sector.
