Filmmaker Karan Johar is reportedly preparing to bring back one of Bollywood’s most iconic family dramas, with industry buzz suggesting that a sequel to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is currently in development.
According to multiple reports circulating within film circles, Johar has finalized the script for what is being referred to as “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2” (K3G 2). If the project moves forward as planned, it will mark his eighth directorial venture and is expected to be the most expensive film of his career.
Sources indicate that the film is likely to enter pre-production by mid-2026, with principal photography tentatively scheduled to begin toward the end of 2026. While official production dates have not yet been announced, preparations are said to be progressing behind the scenes.
In terms of casting, early discussions suggest the sequel may feature two male and two female lead actors, though no names have been officially confirmed. The storyline is reportedly centered on generational conflict and evolving family dynamics, reflecting the changing nature of relationships in contemporary Indian households.
