The Ekadashi tithi begins on January 13, 2026, at approximately 3:17 PM and concludes on January 14 at around 5:52 PM. Devotees will observe the vrat on January 14, following uday tithi traditions.

This day features auspicious yogas, including Sarvarth Siddhi and Amrit Siddhi, making worship and rituals particularly rewarding. Parana (breaking the fast) is recommended on January 15 between 7:15 AM and 9:21 AM for maximum benefits.

Shattila Ekadashi involves worshipping Lord Vishnu, with sesame seeds (til) playing a central role. Donating til is believed to grant inexhaustible merit, while the vrat promotes liberation from past sins and brings wealth, happiness, and prosperity.

The term “Shattila” refers to the six sacred uses of sesame seeds on this day:

  • Bathing with sesame-infused water for physical and mental purity
  • Applying sesame paste (ubtan) for health and beauty
  • Performing havan with sesame for peace and harmony at home
  • Offering tarpan with sesame to ancestors for merit
  • Consuming sesame-based food as part of the vrat diet
  • Donating sesame to the needy for eternal rewards

These practices are said to foster lasting abundance, well-being, and spiritual fulfillment.
