James Cameron’s highly anticipated ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ maintained its dominance at the US box office over the Christmas weekend, earning $88 million domestically in its second weekend. Globally, the film’s total has surged to $760 million, making it one of Disney’s biggest hits of 2025, alongside ‘Zootopia 2’ and ‘Lilo & Stitch’.
The film stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, continuing the epic saga that has captured audiences worldwide. Analysts note that despite new releases like ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Song Sung Blue’, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has retained its top position thanks to strong word-of-mouth and franchise popularity.
2025 has been a strong year for Disney at the box office, with the studio maintaining dominance in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Marvel films have faced tougher competition, struggling to match the massive earnings of Disney’s family-friendly blockbusters.
With the year-end box office total in the US approaching $8.76 billion, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ is expected to continue generating significant revenue during the New Year holiday period.
