New Delhi: In a significant boost to India’s anti-gangster operations, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States. The high-profile arrest marks a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle the international networks of the Bishnoi crime syndicate.
According to officials, Anmol—considered one of the gang’s key overseas operatives—was wanted in multiple cases involving extortion rackets, threats to celebrities, and coordination of violent attacks across northern India. Investigators say he continued to run operations from abroad, leveraging global safe havens and digital communication tools to evade Indian law enforcement.
His deportation was enabled through close coordination between Indian and US agencies, culminating in his handover and immediate arrest by the NIA upon arrival. Sources say the agency will subject him to intensive questioning, which may uncover previously unknown international linkages, financial channels, and weapon procurement routes.
The Bishnoi network, long associated with high-profile crimes and interstate gang wars, has been under heightened scrutiny after a series of violent incidents involving rival gangs and extortion syndicates. Officials say Anmol’s arrest delivers a “critical blow” to the gang’s overseas command structure, potentially disrupting planned operations.
Law enforcement agencies across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi have welcomed the development, calling it a morale-booster amid rising concerns over the sophistication and global spread of northern India’s gangster ecosystem.
Further arrests and follow-up operations are likely as the investigation progresses.
