NIA Confirms Delhi Explosion Was a Car-Borne Suicide Attack, Security Agencies on High Alert

New Delhi, November 17, 2025:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday confirmed that the recent explosion in Delhi was a car-borne suicide attack, marking a significant escalation in the security assessment surrounding the incident. The breakthrough identification has prompted an intensified multi-agency probe amid rising concerns over a potential terror network operating in or targeting the national capital.

According to officials familiar with the investigation, forensic evidence and surveillance footage indicate that the vehicle involved was deliberately rigged with explosives and detonated by an individual inside the car. The NIA’s classification of the blast as a suicide attack has led to an urgent review of security protocols across Delhi, particularly in high-footfall and sensitive areas.

Security agencies have widened their investigation to track possible handlers, logistical support networks, and foreign linkages that may have aided the attacker. Teams are examining phone records, cross-border communication channels, and the origin of explosive materials to determine the scale and intent of the operation.

Senior officials said the attack reflects a “dangerous shift in tactics,” noting that India has seen relatively few suicide-bomb-style strikes in recent years. The confirmation has placed intelligence agencies on high alert, with additional forces deployed at transportation hubs, government buildings, and public landmarks.

Authorities are advising citizens to remain vigilant while assuring that coordinated efforts are underway to prevent any further threats.
