Following National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval’s diplomatic visit to China, there appears to be a thaw in the long-frozen relations between the two nations. The Chinese side has emphasized the need for a broader consensus to enhance bilateral ties, signaling a potential shift in the dynamics of their relationship.
This announcement from China came directly after Doval’s visit to Beijing, where he engaged in discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During this meeting, both parties underscored the importance of normalizing relations between their countries. As part of these talks, they reached agreements to resume the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage and to initiate trade via border routes, marking a step toward restoring smoother interactions after a period of tension.
Doval’s departure from Beijing on Thursday followed these pivotal discussions, and Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian conveyed that the joint statements released by both nations bore “strikingly similar substance and elements,” reflecting a broad-based agreement on the way forward.
