Toronto – India has been named among the countries at risk in the National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025-26 report for Canada. This report has been released by the Cyber Security Centre of Canada. India has been listed as an adversary of the state along with China, Russia, Iran and North Korea. In this, India has been called an adversary country of Canada. The report said that our assessment is that people sponsored by the Government of India can conduct cyber threat activity against the Canadian government’s network for the purpose of espionage.
It further said that due to official bilateral relations between Canada and India, cyber threat activity sponsored by the Government of India against Canada will be encouraged. This is a new attack of the Trudeau government against India. Earlier in October, Canada declared Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma a person of interest in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case, after which India recalled six diplomats including Verma. Along with this, New Delhi also expelled six Canadian diplomats.
India had termed these allegations as absurd and called it a step taken to please Justin Trudeau’s domestic vote bank. The report said that India’s leadership almost certainly aspires to build a modern cyber program with domestic cyber capabilities and very likely uses its cyber program to enhance national security imperatives, including espionage, counter-terrorism, efforts to promote its global position and counter narratives against India and the Indian government.
