Trichy – Stir in the area after police found a rocket launcher near the Andanallur temple located on the banks of the Kaveri river in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu. The incident came to light when devotees who came to visit the temple told that they had seen an unusual object, which later turned out to be a rocket launcher. After the information, the police immediately reached the spot and saw a blue and black object there, it was said to be a rocket launcher. The police also called the bomb squad to the spot and tried to handle the situation around the temple from a security point of view.

The rocket launcher has been handed over to the 117 Infantry Battalion of the Indian Army, and a detailed investigation is being conducted into the matter. Officials said that the place from which the rocket launcher came is being investigated and the matter is being investigated from all possible angles. According to sources, the incident comes in the context when central agencies have warned that the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) is trying to re-establish its dominance in Tamil Nadu. State governments have been informed that many suspicious elements are entering India from Sri Lanka through waterways, which has also increased the possibilities of arms smuggling.
