UNGA Passes Resolution Against Israel’s Occupation of Palestinian Land

Geneva. Voting took place on the resolution related to Palestine in the United Nations General Assembly. India did not participate in it. India did not participate in the voting on the resolution in the UNGA which demanded that Israel remove its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory without any delay within 12 months. The 193-member General Assembly accepted the resolution. 124 countries voted in favor of the resolution. In this, 14 voted against and 43 countries including India did not participate in it. Israel and America were among the countries that voted against the resolution.

The passed resolution demanded that Israel remove its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory without any delay. This should be done within 12 months of the adoption of the current resolution. The resolution prepared by Palestine also strongly condemned the Israeli government’s disregard of its obligations under the United Nations Charter, international law and relevant UN resolutions. It stressed that such violations pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security. It said Israel must be held accountable for any violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territory. ( PLC & GT )
