Washington  : The U.S. President Joe Biden made it clear that he currently sees no valid reason to engage in conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During a press conference following the NATO summit in Washington, Biden addressed the ongoing situation between the United States and Russia, emphasizing his stance on not communicating with Putin unless significant behavioral changes are evident.

Biden’s Firm Stance on Dialogue with Putin

When questioned by journalists about the possibility of dialogue with Putin, President Biden reiterated his openness to engage with any global leader but underscored that this does not apply to Putin at the moment. “There is no leader in the world I am unwilling to speak with,” Biden stated. “However, I am not prepared to talk to Putin until he is ready to change his behavior and approach.”

Accusations of Deception and Ongoing Conflicts

Biden accused Putin of lying about the current geopolitical events, particularly those concerning the Russia-Ukraine war. According to Biden, Russia’s military actions and territorial gains are minimal and overstated by the Kremlin. He highlighted the significant human and economic toll that Russia has faced due to its aggressive policies.

“Russia has not succeeded in this war,” Biden declared. “Despite claiming victory, they have only slightly increased their territorial control in Ukraine. The cost has been enormous, with Russia losing over 350,000 soldiers and more than a million people being killed or injured.”

Impact on Russia’s Future and Brain Drain

The President also spoke about the long-term impacts of the conflict on Russia, particularly the exodus of skilled and technically proficient young individuals. “The future looks bleak for Russia, as we see a significant number of technically skilled youth leaving the country,” Biden noted, indicating a growing internal dissatisfaction and a potential brain drain that could cripple Russia’s future advancements.

Biden’s Approach to Managing Domestic and International Affairs

Biden compared his own approach to leadership with that of Putin, stating that while he deals with public outrage constructively, Putin manipulates the information landscape within Russia. “I manage public discontent by addressing it head-on and using our democratic systems to respond effectively,” Biden said. “In contrast, Putin lies to his people, creating a facade of strength and success.”

Past Attempts at Diplomacy and Future Prospects

Reflecting on past interactions, Biden mentioned his previous efforts to negotiate with Putin, particularly on issues related to nuclear and space weapons agreements. “The last time I spoke with Putin, I tried hard to reach an agreement on nuclear and space weapon control, but it was to no avail,” Biden recalled, highlighting the difficulty in reaching any form of consensus with the current Russian administration.

Strengthening Alliances in Asia-Pacific and Countering Chinese Influence

In addition to addressing relations with Russia, Biden touched upon his administration’s strategies in the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized the importance of strengthening alliances to counter China’s growing influence. “We have fortified our ties with Asia and the Pacific Islands, urging NATO countries to focus on this crucial region,” Biden explained. “I have met with leaders from 14 Pacific Island nations twice, which has helped diminish China’s influence, although much work remains.”

Commitment to Action Over Legacy

Responding to questions about his mental capacity and age, Biden made it clear that his primary focus is on getting things done rather than creating a legacy. “I am not here to build a legacy,” Biden stated emphatically. “I believe in the power of hard work and achieving tangible results.”
