‘Dharampal Centenary Seminar’ in IIMC
Special programme to be held on the birth centenary of Gandhian thinker Dharampal ji

As part of the birth centenary celebration of noted Gandhian thinker and freedom fighter Dharampal ji, a Centenary Seminar is being organised on February 18, 2022 under the joint aegis of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and Centre of Policy Studies, Chennai & New Delhi. Former Union Minister and eminent scholar Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi will preside over the discussion. Eminent scholars from India and abroad will participate in the discussion. The seminar will be telecast live on IIMC’s Facebook Page and YouTube channel.
Director General of IIMC Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi informed Professor of Divinity at Harvard University, Prof. Francis X. Clooney, Principal Scientific Adviser to Government of India, Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan, eminent Swadeshi thinker Shri K.N. Govindacharya, Chairman of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi Shri Ram Bahadur Rai and editor of ‘Thuglak’ magazine Shri S. Gurumurthy will discuss different aspects of Dharampalji’s life and works.
Apart from this, member of National Education Policy Drafting Committee, Prof. M. K. Sridhar, eminent Yogacharya Shri T.M. Mukundan, Prof. at IIT Chennai Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, founder director of Society for Integrated Development of Himalayas, Mussoorie, Shri Pawan Gupta, former Professor at Vivekananda College, Chennai Prof. K.V. Varadarajan, eminent Poet and Writer Shri Udayan Vajpeyi, well-known historian and daughter of Dharmapal, Prof. Geeta Dharampal, director of Centre for Policy Studies Dr. J. K. Bajaj and Chairman Prof. M. D. Srinivas will also join the seminar as distinguished speakers.
While sharing the details of the event, Prof. Dwivedi said Dharampal ji introduced us to the prosperous India that existed before the British came here. The books written by him are the sample of awakening national consciousness. From India to Britain, he spent almost 40 years of his life in search of what India was before the arrival of the British. On the occasion of his birth centenary, we want to revisit the ‘Bharatbodh’ that is reflected through Dharampalji’s work.
