Three universities to developed natural farming model: Governor

Governor Acharya Devvrat today said that H.P. Agriculture university Palampur, Horticulture university Nouni and Agriculture university Hisar would work together in developing a model for zero budgeting natural farming, which would a long way in bringing revolution in agriculture sector  in the entire north region of the country.

Speaking at agriculture festival organized in Choudhary Charan Singh Agriculture University, Hisar he said that zero budgeting natural farming system developed by Dr. Subhash Palekar had been adopted by around 50 lakh farmers of South India and had been implemented successfully in 180-acre land in Kurukshetra. It had improved the soil fertility and there was no requirement of pesticides and insecticides. The products of this farming were giving good prices to the farmers who had been able to bring revolutionary changes in their economy.

He urged the farmers to get awareness about natural farming in which the universities would provide them technical know-how.

The Governor inaugurated the integrated agriculture system model and also visited the exhibition put up by the farmers.

He honoured 18 progressive farmers of Haryana State for their contribution towards natural farming.
