The 2nd Acharya Sushil Muni Ahimsa Peace Award was received by Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta Group. The award is given by Acharya Sushil Muni Ahimsa Peace Award Trust every year to a person of eminence nationally or internationally for his or her contribution in the field of peace, environment or health.
The recipient of the first award was His Holiness Dalai Lama Ji.
Acharya Dr. Sadhvi Sadhna Ji Maharaj, Chairperson and Padmashri & Dr. B.C. Roy National Awardee Dr. KK Aggarwal, Vice-chairman of the Award Trust said that anyone can apply for the award which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. Chief Guest on the occasion, Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said that both inner peace, outer and environmental peace are interrelated. If 51% of the society is not at peace mentally, the result will be environmental distraction.
