Delegation from Mexico meets Pawan Kumar Bansal

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Sh. Pawan Kumar Bansal today met the parliamentary delegation from Mexico led by their Senator, Mr Carlos Jimenez Macias, President of the Committee on External Affairs, Asia Pacific in the Mexican Parliament. The delegation is on a Study tour to India from 8th to 14th August 2010.

Greeting the visitors, Sh. Bansal apprised them about the Indian Parliamentary system – the advantages of a bicameral assembly structure; the role of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs as the interface between government and the Opposition, the role of Chief Whips in ensuring smooth conduct of the House, etc. Sh. Bansal hoped that this visit of the delegation would further strengthen the ties that India already enjoys with Mexico.

The leader of the nine – member Mexican delegation, Mr Carlos Jimenez Macias recalled their enriching experience of attending the sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today and said that the objective of the visit is to reinforce the links between legislators of India and Mexico.

Year 2010 marks the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Mexico.
