Five years rigorous imprisonment with fine of rs. 90,000/- each to then senior section engineer of railways and then income tax officer in separate cases of bribery

The Special Judge (West) Anti-Corruption, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) has convicted Shri Wahiduddin, then Senior Section Engineer (Works), NE Railway, Badshah Nagar, Lucknow in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 90,000/-

A case was registered on the complaint alleging that Shri Wahiduddin, Senior Section Engineer (Works), NE Railway, Badshah Nagar, Lucknow had demanded illegal gratification of Rs.5000/- for changing the ownership of a shop located at Railway land at Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow. CBI laid a trap in which Shri Wahiduddin, Senior Section Engineer was caught red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000/- from Complainant. After completion of the investigation, Charge Sheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge (West), Anti- corruption, Lucknow on 17.03.2012 against the accused.

In another case, the Special Judge (West) Anti-Corruption, Lucknow has sentenced Shri Bhagwati Prasad, then Income Tax Officer, Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh) to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 90,000/- in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case on the basis of complaint alleging that Shri Bhagwati Prasad, Income Tax Officer, Barabanki had demanded bribe of Rs.5000/- for issuing a ‘No dues certificate’. A trap was laid and Shri Bhagwati Prasad, Income Tax Officer, was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000/- from Complainant. A Charge Sheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge (West), Anti- corruption, Lucknow on 26.07.2000 against the accused.

The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
