Will CSK Have a Good Chance of Winning Twice in a Row?
Chennai Super Kings winning the IPL 2021 edition was a big moment and they will surely be an early favorite this upcoming season. However, it’s really hard to say whether the team has what it takes to win the 2022 edition when we only have the names of their retained players.
CSK has retained the following players and here’s how they performed last season:
Player Name | No of Matches | Runs | Highest Inns Scores | Average | Strike Rate |
Ravindra Jadeja | 16 | 227 | 62 | 75.66 | 145.51 |
MS Dhoni | 16 | 114 | 18 | 16.28 | 106.54 |
Moeen Ali | 15 | 357 | 58 | 25.50 | 137.30 |
Raturaj Gaikwad | 16 | 635 | 101 | 45.35 | 136.26 |
Based on how these players performed last year, CSK looks like they have quite a powerhouse for the next season. MS Dhoni is likely going to be the figurehead of the next season. CSK owner Narayanaswami Srinivasan did say that there is no CSK without him.
Ravindra Jadeja’s batting skill is an asset to the team and his contribution to last year’s team was so big. Add Gaikwad’s ability to smash sixes and CSK can be a tough contender next season. However, it’s still too early to say that CSK has a huge chance of bagging another IPL championship this year. It’s best to wait for the Mega Auction first.
