“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to Change the world”.  This is the main purpose of   S. Jasjit Singh, Chairperson of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi-UK), & Family and to accomplish this cause they are going to start “FIRST SIKH BOOK BANK TRUST”.  The major focus of the family through “First Sikh Book Bank Trust” is to uplift the education standards of the Boys and Girls from Class Xth to XIIth of Sikh Schools from Delhi.  The initiative of the “First Sikh Book Bank Trust” is not limited in Delhi and will later expand its activities in the neighboring states particularly where Sikh Schools are in large numbers.  The focus of giving Books through “First Sikh Book Bank Trust” will be to help those students who are needy and less privileged. They cannot achieve the good results because of the lack of reference Books.  The books provided by the trust will help in getting more Knowledge about the study of the subjects i.e. in any stream like Science, Commerce & Arts.  The student should be studying in Sikh Schools of Delhi such as Khalsa Schools, GHPS, Guru Nanak Public School etc. Students may be in Sikh, Hindu or other Religion. Forms will be available on the website of the “First Sikh Book School Bank Trust” and also with the Sikh Schools Free of cost. (There shall be no charges in getting the books. It is totally “FREE OF COST SERVICE”. The “Recommendation” of the principal will be mandatory. All the books obtained from the trust will be returned at any given time within the period of ‘One Academic Year’ so that the same book can be allotted the other students next year. This will be an ongoing process.  The selection of the books will be done by the ‘Experts Committee’ of teachers.

It will be Endeavour of the ‘FIRST SIKH BOOK BANK TRUST’ to launch this project from Delhi on 13th April 2011 (Baisakhi Day).  The target for the academic year will be to provide Books to at least 500 Students this year and gradually expand in thousands.  The books will be on Display in the Office of the ‘FIRST SIKH BOOK BANK TRUST’ i.e. 29/56, Punjabi Bagh (West) New Delhi-110026.  In the special case stationery materials and other benefits will also be given to the students of class Xth to XIIth of Sikh Schools, Subject to Recommendation of the Committee.  The ‘FIRST SIKH BOOK BANK TRUST’ will also give Scholarship to those who excellent in different Streams of class XIIth.  Any person or organization can come forward to support this cause.

This is the initial step of this unique ‘FIRST SIKH BOOK BANK TRUST’ to Support the Cause of Education in Delhi.
