US Airstrikes on Iranian Military Sites were carried out on Saturday after Iran allegedly violated a ceasefire agreement by attacking a commercial oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Tehran of breaching the ceasefire by targeting a Panama-flagged commercial tanker and announced that U.S. forces had struck Iranian missile storage facilities, drone depots, and coastal radar installations in response.
“American aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites, along with coastal radar locations. Iran has once again violated the ceasefire agreement,” Trump wrote.
The president also warned that continued attacks by Iran could trigger a broader military response.
“There may come a time when diplomacy is no longer possible, and we will be forced to complete militarily what we began successfully. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist,” Trump said in his statement.
CENTCOM Details Alleged Drone Attack
According to CENTCOM, the military operation was authorized by President Trump after Iran allegedly launched a one-way attack drone that struck the Panama-flagged tanker MT Kiku at approximately 4:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
The vessel was reportedly carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil while transiting near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest maritime oil routes.
CENTCOM said Iran had previously been given an opportunity to comply with a ceasefire following earlier U.S. retaliatory strikes. However, the command claimed Tehran failed to honor the agreement and instead carried out the drone attack against the commercial vessel.

US Targets Multiple Iranian Military Installations
In a separate statement, CENTCOM said U.S. Navy and Air Force aircraft conducted strikes against 10 Iranian military targets in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the command, the operation targeted locations linked to Iran’s missile capabilities, drone infrastructure, and coastal radar systems.
The strikes, CENTCOM said, were conducted in direct response to the alleged drone attack on the MT Kiku.
Strategic Importance of the Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically significant maritime chokepoints, with a substantial portion of global crude oil shipments passing through the narrow waterway each day.
Any military escalation in the region has the potential to disrupt global energy markets, commercial shipping, and regional security.
