Bhiwani,

A fast track court in Bhiwani has awarded the capital punishment to two youths in a case of honour killing of two young widows at Ranila village of this district two years back.  Additional district and sessions judge Sarita Gupta has sentenced Naresh and Subhash to be hanged till death for beating their widowed aunts Shakuntala and Suman to death on April 11, 2011 because they suspected their character. They will also have to pay fine of Rs 27,000 each and in case of their failure to pay the fine, they will have to serve imprisonment of two months each. The two youths, who are cousins, beat the two women mercilessly with sticks publicly in the main chowk of the village till they died on the fateful day. A village panchayat member, Kailash, who rushed to the site after knowing about the incident, found Naresh and Subhash dragging the body of Suman on the road, while the body of Shakuntala lay in a pool of blood. The police registered a case on Kailash’s complaint, but the accused had escaped by then. They were later arrested by the police on April 19. During interrogation, Naresh told the police that he suspected the character of his aunts Shakuntala and Suman and hence he eliminated them with the help of his cousin Subhash. He told the police that he did not repent the dual murder and had anyone come at that time to stop him, he would have killed that person too. According to police records, Naresh has already been sentenced to imprisonment of 10 years in a case of rape of a minor girl. However, he was released on bail by the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court
