Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that a special campaign would be launched to clear the backlog of disabled persons so that efforts be made to fill the vacant posts. Mrs. Bhukkal was addressing a function organized on the 204th birthday anniversary of Louis Braille by the Haryana branch of National Federation of the Blind here today. She said that the backlog of blind teachers for JBT posts would be filled on priority basis and special teachers were being appointed for the education of blind children. The State Government has effectively implemented the Right to Education Act. The Education Department would ensure that all children join schools. She also announced to give Rs 2.25 lakh out of her discretionary fund to the National Federation of the Blind. Wishing MP from Rohtak Mr. Deepender Singh Hooda on his birthday, Mrs. Bhukkal said that he is not only an outstanding politician, but also takes active part in organizations like Red Cross. He has raised the issues concerning the common man in parliament and has set an example of being a good politician by resolving the problems of the people. She said that UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda have keen interest for the uplift of every section of society. This became clear to her when she herself met Mrs. Sonia Gandhi who asked her to implement social welfare schemes in an effective manner. While referring to the charter of demands presented by the Federation, she said that efforts would be made to set up teaching institutes in every district for better education of blind students. With a view to provide employment opportunities to disabled and blind students, many commercial courses would be started according to the need of time so that they could get employed independently. She said that transport facility and other necessary facilities would be provided to the disabled children and people so that they could join the mainstream. She said that a provision would be made to renovate the building of Government blind school at Panipat by the month of March so that high class state level institute could be developed. On the issue of relaxation in lease for blind institute Ambala, she said that she would talk to Mr. Hooda regarding this matter. She said that Non Government Organizations and Institutions working for the welfare of disabled persons would be honoured and the Department would ensure to provide salary on time to their teachers and other employees. While talking to the media persons, she said that Haryana Government has started Kanyadan Yojna to promote mass marriages. Under this scheme each girl would be provided with Rs 11,000 on the occasion of mass marriage. On this occasion Mrs. Bhukkal honoured children for their outstanding performance in the field of education.
