SCINDIA DEDICATES NTPC JV PROJECT

Jyotiraditya Madhavrao ScindiaMinister of State (I/C) for Power Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia along with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today dedicated to the nation the Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar in Haryana. The minister lauded the efforts of NTPC, Government of Haryana and Delhi Government for making this Project a success.

While addressing the gathering, Scindia said with the commissioning of this project, all the three units in the first stage is commissioned and commercial operation started. Presently, 1500 MW of power is being generated through this plant. In 2007, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation of this Project. The project is completed with a total cost of Rs. 7900 Crore.

On the environmental aspects, the minister said all regulatory clearances from State Pollution Control Board and Ministry of Environment and Forests has been obtained. Maintaining a high standard of environmental safety, 100% Fly Ash disposal by High concentration Slurry Disposal system (HCSD) and dry ash system has been introduced. For the first time in NTPC plants, Reverse osmosis Plant is being installed to recycle the waste water of station and Ash water recirculation system is installed to re-use the ash slurry disposal of flow water.

This year this power station produced more than five billion unit of power, which is 20% of the total power production in Haryana.

Haryana, Delhi, and other northern region states and Union Territories will greatly benefit from this Thermal Power Project in which NTPC holds 50% share. The main plant equipment of boiler and turbine was awarded to the BHEL in July 2007 and the first unit was commissioned on October 31, 2010 in 39 months from the date of investment approval. The second unit was commissioned on November 5, 2011. The project will have a self contained township with all modern amenities such as a 50 bed hospital, school community centre, shopping complex, club and stadium for quality life of the employees and their families.
