Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) a pressure group struggling for re-opening of Sharda Peeth in PoK, has written a letter to Prime Minister of Pakistan today, urging him to take similar steps as taken for re-opening of Kartarpur sahib Gurudwara, in Pakistan on the eve of Prakash Divas, this year. The Head and the founder of the committee Ravinder Pandita in a press release in New Delhi has urged Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to take up the matter with AJK as well as Indian government.
The committee has secured an order from AJK Supreme court also in regard to preservation of Sharda Peeth , this year. Sharda Peeth – the basic seat of learning and the highest peeth of Adi Shankracharya lies in istrict Neelum of PoK ( AJK) that is administered by Govt. of Pakistan. The last yatra undertaken was in the year 1948 by a kashmiri saint Swami Nand Lal Ji who had to migrate finally to Kupwara in our part of Kashmir, after the tribal raids and partition of the state. ” We have taken up the matter with MHA, PMO office and all concerned ministries during the last 3 years that an amendment in LoC permit rules be made to include cross heritage & religious tourism.
The file is pending security clearance.LoC permit is presently being used by J&K residents to travel across LoC to meet their relatives and is in force since 2007. LoC trade is also going on at Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot sectors of J&K state since then ” Ravinder Pandita said. The committee has developed a civil society in PoK and for the first time since partition got flowers laid at the temple i November’2016 and installed a photo of Sharda Mai in March ‘2017.
Save Sharda Committee has written to Prime Minister of Pakistan to take similar steps for facilitating visit to Sharda Paath that has not happened during the last 70 years, on the lines of Nankana Sahib yatra to Lahora and now Kartarpur Sahib yatra , by sikh community. APMCC one of the frontline Kashmiri pandit organisations working in Kashmir has also been struggling for the re-opening of the Peeth for the last 15 years and its Chairman Sh. Vinod Pandit has sit on a record indefinite fast at Jammu & Porbandar to reiterate the demand in 2011 and 2012.
