Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated Farmers’ Training Centre and Branch with ATM at Talai in the august presence of Shri Abu Hena , Hon’ble Minister , Govt of West Bengal and other dignitaries. With the opening of BO: Talai ,PNB will have its 5th Branch at Murshidabad District and 246 th in the State of West Bengal.
With Banks’ commitment for upliftment of rural India, PNB has opened its 10th FTC at Talai and one full fledged Farmers’ Training Center to be set up at Vill: Suti, District Murshidabad.
PNB has also adopted village Talai under PNB Vikas scheme. It is one of the 117 villages adopted by the bank for integrated development on a sustainable basis.
Hon’ble union finance minister handed over sanction letters to loanee beneficiaries under DRI schemes ,Cycle van, paddy processing ,KCC ,Kalyani card & Tractor. Hon’ble FM also handed over tricycles to handicapped persons and felicitated meritorious students. He also declared setting up of two tube wells and donated benches for primary schools at Talai village under CSR activities.
Shri KR Kamath, CMD of Punjab National Bank , highlighted the association of PNB with the State and its contribution towards the growth of Bengal, which dates back to 1912, when it opened its first branch at Canning Street (BRBB Road) at Kolkata. Since then , the bank has grown from strength to strength and present number of branches in the state of west Bengal stood at 246.
Total Business of PNB in the state registered a YoY growth of more than 23% as at March 11 to reach a business of Rs. 27143 Cr. West Bengal state contributes around 5% share of total business of the Bank. While advances of PNB rose by more than 29.7%, Deposits showed a YoY growth of 25.5%.
To provide “Any where Any Time” Banking service, the Bank has 159 ATMs in the state of West Bengal, besides providing free Internet Banking.
