On April 22, 2025, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will hold a key meeting to discuss the highly debated concept of One Nation, One Election. JPC’s Push for Public Participation: Launch of Official Website
In a bid to ensure broad public engagement, the JPC is preparing to launch a dedicated website for the One Nation, One Election initiative. Speaking about this development, PP Choudhary, Chairman of the JPC, revealed that the website will feature a QR code system for easy public submissions, allowing citizens to contribute their suggestions and opinions. This step aims to ensure that the committee receives input from all corners of the country before forming a final stance on the issue.
The website will be multilingual, allowing citizens from different regions of India to share their views, ensuring inclusivity. Choudhary also emphasized that the technical development of the website is in its final stages to ensure smooth functionality without any crashes or disruptions.
JPC’s Nationwide Tour to Engage Citizens
In addition to the online platform, the JPC will also embark on a nationwide tour to gather feedback from various states and regions. Choudhary noted that Maharashtra will be the first state visited, followed by Uttarakhand in May. Later, in June, the committee will cover Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana. This extensive state tour is aimed at ensuring that the views of all regions, urban and rural, are taken into account before proceeding with any legal reforms.

Choudhary explained that India experiences elections almost every six months, leading to an environment of perpetual campaigning. The JPC Chairman believes that synchronizing elections will lead to faster policy implementation and could help India achieve its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He pointed out that aligning panchayat, municipal, and state assembly elections within a 100-day window of Lok Sabha elections will significantly reduce electoral burden, giving the government more time to focus on nation-building efforts.

This meeting marks the second major session of the JPC on the One Nation, One Election initiative. The first was held on March 25, 2025, and was characterized by a five-hour long deliberation. During that session, Former Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.N. Patel offered his legal expertise, followed by an insightful exchange with Attorney General R. Venkataramani, who provided the committee with crucial information on constitutional challenges.
