Nandini Sharma Named in India Women’s Asian Games 2026 Cricket Squad

Nandini Sharma has earned a place in India’s women’s cricket squad for the 2026 Asian Games, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcing the team ahead of the continental event. The Chandigarh cricketer’s selection rewards a string of consistent performances in domestic cricket and marks another significant milestone for the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA).

India will enter the 2026 Asian Games as the defending women’s cricket champions after winning the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in China in 2023. The selectors rewarded Sharma’s impressive performances across multiple domestic tournaments and national assignments as the team looks to retain its continental crown.

Earlier this year, Sharma represented India A in the ACC Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup, further strengthening her credentials on the international stage. Over the past few seasons, she has represented both Punjab and UTCA in BCCI-organized Under-19, Under-23, and senior women’s competitions.

Her consistent displays in major domestic tournaments—including the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Tournament, Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, and Senior Women’s One-Day Challenger Trophy—helped establish her as one of the country’s most promising young cricketers.

Sharma is also part of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), where she has continued to impress with her performances. She has also secured a place in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, highlighting her rapid rise in Indian women’s cricket.

Welcoming the announcement, UTCA President Saransh Tandon described Sharma’s selection as a proud moment for Chandigarh and the association.

“Nandini’s selection in the Indian team for the Asian Games is a matter of immense pride for Chandigarh and the UTCA. She has earned this opportunity through years of hard work, discipline, and consistent performances. We are confident she will make a valuable contribution to the Indian team and continue inspiring young cricketers across the region,” Tandon said.

India’s squad combines experienced international players with emerging talent as the team prepares to defend its Asian Games title.
