The Israel has agreed to a ceasefire with Hezbollah and Lebanon. The agreement will come into force at midnight (Israel time) on November 27. Israel’s Security Cabinet, the country’s top decision-making body under the government, has agreed to the ceasefire. Prime Minister Netanyahu said in his speech after the agreement that the duration of the ceasefire depends on what happens in Lebanon. We will implement the agreement and respond strongly to any violation. We will remain united until victory.
On the other hand, amid growing hopes of a ceasefire, Israeli fighter jets on Tuesday bombed several targets in the Lebanese capital Beirut. These attacks were carried out ahead of the Israeli cabinet meeting. Efforts are being made to reach an agreement with US mediation.
A senior Israeli official and Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Habib have expressed the possibility of an agreement. This could open the way for ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. However, senior Hezbollah official and MP Hassan Fadlallah said that his organization will remain active despite the ceasefire. While European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell has appealed to Israel to accept the ceasefire agreement.

The G-7 foreign ministers said that now is the time for a Lebanon ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, Israel carried out air strikes at several places in the southern suburb of Beirut. This densely populated area is said to be a stronghold of Hezbollah.
The Israeli army said that 20 targets were attacked in just 120 seconds. Hezbollah bases are being targeted throughout the city. Meanwhile, several air strikes were carried out in central Beirut on Tuesday evening.
The attack came after the Israeli army issued the first order to evacuate four areas of the city. The Israeli army has also targeted a school in Gaza City. According to medical officials, displaced families had taken refuge here. Ten Palestinians were killed in the attack.
