Tensions between Iran and the United States have surged once again after Tehran issued a stern warning to US President Donald Trump, declaring that any attack on Iran would be treated as a “full-scale war” and would invite a forceful response.
The warning comes just days after signs of a temporary de-escalation, when Trump appeared to soften his stance by stepping back from direct military threats. That easing followed Iran’s earlier assurance that detained protesters would not face the death penalty. However, Iranian authorities have now reversed that position, stating clearly that no amnesty is planned for those arrested during protests.
⚠️ Iran Responds to US Military Signals
A senior Iranian official said the government, under the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would respond decisively to what it described as continuous military threats from the United States.
“Whether the attack is limited, extensive, or described under any other pretext, Iran will treat it as a full war,” the official stated, emphasizing that Tehran would respond with maximum force.
The statement follows remarks by Trump claiming that a large fleet of US warships is being deployed toward the conflict-prone Middle East.
🚢 US Military Movement Raises Alarm
According to media reports, the US Navy has begun deploying the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by three Tomahawk missile–equipped destroyers, to the region. Additionally, the US Air Force has reportedly stationed a dozen F-15E fighter jets in the Middle East, further heightening regional tensions.
Iranian officials described these developments as provocative and said the country remains on high military alert.
🛡️ ‘Prepared for the Worst,’ Says Tehran
While declining to disclose the specifics of a potential counterstrike, the Iranian official stressed that the country’s armed forces are fully prepared for any worst-case scenario.
“A nation living under constant military pressure has no choice but to use every available resource to respond to an attack and restore balance,” the official said.
🔥 Protests and Rising Internal Pressure
The renewed escalation comes amid ongoing anti-government protests in Iran, which have intensified since the beginning of the year. Activist groups claim that more than 5,000 people have died in protest-related violence, though official figures have not been independently verified.
The latest developments emerged shortly after Trump’s return to the United States from the World Economic Forum in Davos, signaling a renewed hardening of positions on both sides and raising concerns of another flashpoint in an already volatile region.
