The State of Himachal Pradesh was fortunate that His Holiness Dalai Lama has chosen Himachal Pradesh as the place for the Tibetan government-in-exile, which was a matter for pride for the State.
This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the gathering on the occasion of high tea hosted by the Parliament of the Tibetan government-in-exile at Dharamshala today.
The Chief Minister said that with HH the Dalai Lama making Dharamshala his home, the place has emerged as a world tourist attraction. A large number of tourists and his followers across the world visit Dharamshala every year to seek his blessings, which has brought Dharamshala on world tourist map.
Jai Ram Thakur said that India and Tibet shares common culture and traditions and it was vital for the universal peace that both the communities work with better coordination.
Speaker, Parliament of Tibetan government-in-exile Pema Jungney presented the vote of thanks. Deputy Speaker Yeshi Phuntsok welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Speaker of the State Vidhan Sabha Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Members of the State Cabinet and MLAs were present on the occasion among others.
