India and Saudi Arabia held their sixth Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) meeting in Riyadh on September 4, 2024. The discussions aimed to enhance military, training, and defense industry collaborations, reinforcing the nations’ long-standing partnership.

Riyadh : India and Saudi Arabia held the sixth meeting of their Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) on September 4, 2024, in Riyadh. The discussions focused on exploring new opportunities to enhance their long-standing and multi-dimensional defense cooperation. Topics covered included military collaboration, training, defense industry engagement, and research and development (R&D).

The meeting underscored the cordial and robust relationship between the two nations, which is underpinned by centuries of economic and socio-cultural connections. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation provides the framework for this partnership, while the JCDC serves as an institutional mechanism to advance its goals.

The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad from the Ministry of Defence, and the Saudi delegation, co-chaired by Major General Salman Bin Awadh Al-Harbi, engaged in detailed deliberations to expand and deepen their defense ties.
