inauguration of AIE Center by Chief Justice

– Another Alternative Innovative Education Centre and a Creche for the children of workers at construction site near the Punjab and Haryana High Court was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court, Mr. Justice Mukul Mudgal. The AIE Centre and Creche were constructed in partnership with Department of Labour, Social Welfare and Sai Tara Ummat Foundation under Partnership Initiative Programme. This is 16th AIE Center which has been constructed in any construction site in the city.

Mr. Justice Mukul Mudgal also released a booklet highlighting the works being done under the Partnership Initiative Programme and another booklet containing various initiatives taken by the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration including Asha Kiran-Vocational training Center (VTC) for Differently Abled Persons, Snehalaya-VTC for Street Children, Empowerment Center, Working Women Center, Aashadeep-Regional Institute for Mentally Challenged and Ashray.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion Justice Mudgal appreciated the various initiatives taken by the Chandigarh Administration for the up-liftment of children belonging to the downtrodden and disadvantaged sections of the society. He said these children can become something in life as they have talent, if opportunities are given to them.

During the function Justice Mudgal also took round of the various stalls put up by the Education Department, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan and Social Welfare Department. He also distributed track suits and food items to the children of the construction site and the AIE Center.

Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas while giving the welcome address brought into light the various projects undertaken by the UT Administration for the alleviation of the disadvantaged groups. He said the main objective of the UT Administration is to bring these people in the mainstream of the society.

Judges of P & H High Court, Director Social Welfare, Mr. Samwartak Singh, Director Public Instructions (S), Mr. Sunil Bhatia, Chief Engineer, Mr. Surinder Pal and representatives of different NGOs were present during the function.
